The Bogor Agricultural University Library (BAU)   was established to support the implementation of tri dharma universities, namely education, research and community service at the University. In performing these functions, the Library collects, processes, and disseminate information on science and technology as well as documenting the scientific works of the staff, theses and dissertations of the BAU students. The information is managed in the form of printed and electronic library materials.

Effective the year 2009, in addition to perform the library and librarianships functions, the University Library has also assigned to develop the University  Archives. To implement these duties, two sections such as Archive Development and Management was initiated.


Vision

Making the IPB as a system library information services, deposit and archival-based information technology to support world class research with the core competencies of tropical agriculture and biosciences and entrepreneurial character.


Mission:

1. To provide excellent resources, services and facilities to support our academic communties requirement in enhancing learning, teaching, research and consultancy activities (Tridharma) in Bogor Agricultural University.
2. To fulfill the university's information needs in facilitating learning, teaching, research and consultancy.
3. To optimmize usage of various information resources and facilities, by establishing local and international networks.
4. To reinforce academic communties  learning program towards lifelong learning.

Library Services

1. The BAU Libraries aims to encourage and support both the scholarly pursuits and the practical research activities of BAU staff and students, to be  world-class research university with the core competencies of tropical agriculture and biosciences and entrepreneurial character. A full range of services is provided in the University Library as well as other library under the BAU,  including loan, online renewal and reservation, inter-library loan, reference, online information search, document delivery, photocopying, training courses, viewing of audiovisual and microform materials.
2. To develop the University Archive Center, including developing its  filing as well as its retrieval systems.

Library Collection

To accomplish its mission to provide excellent resources, services and facilities to support learning, teaching, research and consultancy activities of BAU, the library has over the years build up its collection in various subjects fields, in printed, non-print and electronic format. The library now holds a collection of 72,201 volumes (45,837 titles) of books and 2,783 (two thousand and seven hundred eighty three) volumes (14,536 copies) bound journals, as well as a collection of maps, sound recordings, microforms, video tapes and slides. Number of printed collections: text book / research reports (copies). In addition, the library holds 5,221 (five thousand two hundred and twenty two) reference  titles, 47,233 (fourty seven thousand two hundred thirty three) titles of  baby thesis, 11,850 (eleven thousand eight hundred fifty) master thesis and dissertai, 9807 (nine thoiusand eight hundred seven) of which are full text collections.

The collection of the University Library of Bogor Agricultural University is rich and diverse, especially in terms of the breadth and the depth of coverage. The collection encompasses subjects in agriculture, agricultural engineering, biology, veterinary medicne, animal husbandry, fisheries and marine sciences, natural sciences and mathematics, the humanities and social sciences, economics and business, and ecology.

ONLINE DATABASES

Subscribed Online Databases is the online databases and journals subscribed by Library which can be accessed via Library Website within Bogor Agricultural University Campus. There are about 4 (four) online journal titles ready to be accessed at anytime. The online journals: ProQuest, ScienceDirect, Infotract dan EBSCO provide a wide variety of relevant information of the current issues, research and publications that assist users in completing their literature review of the thesis, project papers, assignments, and etc

Digital collection consists of: 37,719 fulltext fulltext thesis, theses and dissertations fulltext 9807 1728 fulltext, fulltext 5234 IPBana article, TEEAL CD collection to collection year <2006 and TEEAL hard drive (1 unit).


The Library Web page

Information on the University Library  collections is available from the Virtual Web/OPAC which can be accessed via the internet from the University Library  website (http://perpustakaan.ipb.ac.id). The University Library is also equipped with wifi internet facilities thus enabling users to use their own laptop at anytime they are within the library building. The University Library strives to provide the best information services and facilities to our customers in line with the development in information and technology. Information such as the library profile, history, services and facilities, library staff, catalog, electronic journals, links to other sites and info librarian is accessible through this web.

Publication

Publications which are published regularly Bibliography Thesis / Dissertation and Bibliography IPBana published twice a year. Collections of library materials IPBana is the work of faculty and staff of IPB, either in the form of text books / reference, research reports, papers / proceedings of workshops / seminars / meetings and the like, scientific articles, scientific papers and CD / VCD. Other publications ever published is Info Library which contains selected information compiled by subject matter covered by each faculty.

IPB Library manages a journal title, the Journal Librarian Indonesia (JPI), which is a periodical published twice a year which presents writing in the field of libraries, documentation, information and computers, as medium of information and communication among librarians and issued to all librarians and observer in field  librarianship, documentation, information and communication in Indonesia. JPI article contains rubrics, rubric library profiles, opinions, tips, you know, book reviews, IT clinic, figures and interesting sites in the field of information technology and libraries.
